In some situations, it's a good idea to generate the list of files and folders stored on your hard disk. For example, you have created a software CD or DVD and you want to have the list of files and folders printed on the disc case. Or you want to send a list of files contained by a certain folder to your friends, so you can show them your music or video collection. For all these situations, the right software is DirPrintAdv.

This Windows program allows you to print or save the contents of any folder or hard disk partition as a regular text file. The program doesn't need installing and can run directly from the downloaded archive. After loading the application, you will first need to navigate to the folder for which its contents will be listed. This action can be performed with ease, as the interface resembles the one of Windows Explorer.

After that, the user should select the file and folder attributes which will be included in the listing of the folders. These attributes include size, item type, date modified, author, parent folder and other similar items. After adjusting the attributes, you can choose to have the list of files or folders either printed or saved as a CSV file. Optionally, you can preview the list in Notepad before actually saving it.

From the upper part of the interface, you can map any shared drive to your computer, without having to access My Computer. You can also refresh the list of files and folders with a single click, in case you have added new objects to the hard disk while the program was running.

Pros

It can generate lists containing any number of files and folders. Besides that, you can customize the way files and folders are displayed in the list, by activating several attributes. Furthermore, lists can be saved as text files or printed.

Cons

The interface may seem crowded when running the program for the first time. Using DirPrintAdv you can generate lists of files and folders with ease.
